Essential skills needed:

• Qualification as a Diesel Mechanic
• Expertise knowledge of current heavy vehicle maintenance requirements.
• Be able to read and interpret technical manuals.
• Hold all industry required tickets and tools.
• Supply & maintain own commercial grade tools, noting a tool maintenance allowance is included in the salary package)
• Provide own vehicle to get themselves and their tools to site. Maintain current driver’s license.

• Must have AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3) as a Diesel Mechanic.
• The role includes repairing, maintaining and testing heavy vehicles and other diesel engines and related mechanical components of buses, trucks and heavy vehicles.

Tasks Include: ·

• detecting and diagnosing faults in engines and parts
• dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components, and checking parts
• diagnosing and testing with the assistance of computers
• repairing and replacing worn and defective parts and reassembling mechanical components, and referring to service manuals as needed
• order parts and maintain Inventories.
• performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications and engine tune-ups, to achieve smoother running of vehicles and ensure compliance with regulations.
• rebuilding engines and parts after being repaired.
• welding and painting of vehicles and components
• may inspect vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates or detail work required to achieve roadworthiness.
